What is a Remanufactured MICR Toner Cartridge?

A printer user may have already heard and learned about the common types of printer cartridges - the ink cartridge and laser toner cartridge. However, not everyone knows about the MICR toner cartridge. So, let’s go over what this toner does and why a remanufactured MICR toner cartridge is always be a good choice for printing special documents.

MICR is an acronym that is short for Magnetic Ink Character Recognition and is commonly used by banks for security purposes on its checks. An MICR toner cartridge has magnetic charges which are used on the serial numbers and letters of check. When the check scanner detects these charges, the authenticity of the check is provided thus giving better security for the bank’s account.

You cannot use an MICR toner on a regular printer since this is only designed to work with a specific MICR printer. Since it is not the usual type of toner, this cartridge cannot be normally seen in all printer supplies stores.

However, since there are companies who want to provide high quality printing of security codes on checks while still giving low priced items, third party manufacturers came up with the remanufactured MICR toner cartridge.

A remanufactured MICR toner works just like the original toners although you can instantly see the difference on the price. A third party MICR toner cartridge can give you more than fifty percent savings compared to an original, with the same printing capability since third party cartridges are designed to meet the high security purposes of MICRs.

Although you may not really need an MICR toner and printer for your personal use, you may still want to consider a remanufactured cartridge for your printer if there is one available since saving on your printing expenses is always helpful.
