Lexmark and the Environment - Their Strive to Provide Environment-Friendly Products

Lexmark Official Collection and Recycle Program Banner

Lexmark, an American corporation which develops and manufactures printing and imaging products, has been doing activities and creating programs to help our environment as a part of its goal to be "an environmentally responsible provider of products and services" from how they engineer their toner and ink cartridges, packaging all the way to their recycling collection programs.

According to Lexmark official website, they are striving to achieve their goal through the following:

Lexmark is Making a Difference
  • All of Lexmark's manufacturing sites are certified to the ISO 9000, ISO 14001, and OSHAS 18001 standards.
  • Lexmark's environmental programs keep millions of pounds of solid waste out of waste streams annually.
  • Lexmark has cartridge or equipment collection programs available in over 50 countries with various methods of returns.
  • Lexmark recovers millions of used cartridges each year via the Lexmark Cartridge Collection Programs to be either reused or recycled.
  • Lexmark products have been awarded many eco-labels including German Blue Angel and US Energy Star certifications.
  • The longer lasting yields of Lexmark's high yield cartridges allow customers to spend more time printing impressive documents and less time changing cartridges.
Presently, their most successful environment program is their Recycling Return Collection Program which allows their customers to return their used or empty printer cartridges to be used again and be recycled as remanufactured toner cartridges and remanufactured ink cartridges, resulting in less waste and fewer resources used.

So how can customers return their cartridges to Lexmark? First, they can put back the empty toner or ink cartridge back to the bag and box that the replacement cartridge came from or in a plastic and cardboard. After that, they can bring the box along side with Lexmark Recycling Program Address at the Post Office. However, if you're interested in returning cartridges in bulk, you can contact Lexmark at 1-800-LEXMARK (539-6275) extension 508.

Certain third-party companies which offers Recycling Program like TonerGreen accepts empty Lexmark toner cartridges as well. For more questions about Lexmark's programs, you can visit their official page, Lexmark Collection and Recycling Program.
